Tied Ratings Recorded For 2014 Winter Classic
The 2014 Winter Classic just passed, the game was played against the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs within the Michigan Stadium. The game was extremely close with both of the teams playing their hardest while in the snow. A massive crowd surrounds the players on the rink, it was also one of the most watched Winter Classics to date.
NVM saw a 2.9 Million overnight rating. In 2009 the Winter Classic also saw the 2.9 Million overnight rating at NBC, the rating were matched. A regular season game doesn’t nearly pull in this many views, showing that the Winter Classic is still a force to be reckoned with.
A Canadian Team finally won their first Winter Classic. Toronto took the game with a 3-2 victory in a shootout against the Red Wings. This came to a shock to many as for more than several decades the Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t won the Stanley Cup. This season Toronto hasn’t lost a game and they can now include the Winter Classic to their list of won games this year as well.
Detroit was where the majority of the game was viewed with an 18.0 Rating. Buffalo and Pittsburgh came close to one another with Buffalo having a 7.2 Rating and Pittsburgh having a 7.0 Rating. We congratulate the Maple Leafs on their winter classic game. We look forward to seeing if the Ontario based NHL hockey will be able to win the Stanley Cup this year.
